One of our funders, Rata Foundation, have put together this story and video about Te Hā o Mātauranga. They actually filmed this in 2021, however the pulling together of the video was pushed back with other things happening in the world at the time.

Rata support us by contributing to the operational costs of Te Hā - you can't have people working without having the background bits for them! Rata's support goes towards the costs of our hub (rent, power, phone, insurance etc), and the costs of employing a Coordinator to look after the other staff. We are deeply grateful to Rata for their ongoing support!

Other happenings at Te Hā o Mātauranga...

Community Garden

We are currently extending our wee community garden - fencing it off and adding more garden beds. Our garden is made up of a unique teepee tunnelhouse and several raised garden beds. We have a small but dedicated group of volunteers in the garden, and invite you to join if you are keen!

Get in touch with Sarah on 027 807 2874, email sarah@kaikoura.link or pop into Te Hā o Mātauranga if you're keen to get involved in the community garden!

Community Shed

The Community Shed is located at the back of our property. It is open Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, or by appointment. You are welcome to bring your own project to work on, or come and work with others on group projects. Thursday mornings we host a group of retired gentlemen who work on projects to better the community, such as birdhouses and pest control traps!

Kapai puku

Kapai puku is the food sharing stall that can be found nestled in by our office at the front of the building. This stall is for eveyone to use, and has had a great amount of fruit and veg coming in and out during fruiting seasons.
There is also a Little Library sitting outside our front door - feel free to have a look through this wee gem, take a book home to read, or drop off a book you no longer need but think someone else will love!
